Siblings Solo
Hello.
Some of you will remember I did a brief solo tour in January to celebrate 20 years of careering through the wilderness. The set list was a fairly exhaustive overview and it was surprisingly enjoyable to revisit many of those old songs.
The last show of the tour was at The Camelot Lounge in Marrickville .They have kindly requested I give it a second go.
It will be on Thursday August 27th with doors at 7pm.
I’ll be trawling through old, not so old and not old at all songs, a bit like last time but different and stuff. To make the night a bit more granderer my talented sister Sophie Hutchings will be doing an opening set accompanied by cellist Peter Hollo. Sophie and me haven’t shared a bill in ages so I’m stoked to have her involved. She is currently working on the final touches of her third album.
If you buy a ticket in advance you’ll save a few bucks, last time the pre-sales sold out in the downstairs bar Django which is why I ended up playing Camelot.
I’m encouraging requests in advance if you want to add them to the comments page of the Facebook event. If there’s any songs I haven’t played for a while that people are burning for I’ll give them a go if I know advance.

BEFORE BEFORE LAUNCH TOUR
Dear Friends
The Infinity Broke tour for Before Before starts next week so we wanted to send you out a reminder. We have Hugh Deacon on drums and he is heading overseas for two months the day after our tour so who knows when we’ll play again?
For all of you generous souls who got onboard the Pozible crowd funding campaign – your packs are on their way. They went to the post office today, a crazy day of packing was had, make sure you check the contents of your pack, we got a little delirious.
You can now buy Before Before on CD,Vinyl and digital from our Bandcamp store and it will ship out pretty quickly, grab copies HERE
If you’re after the vinyl, a quiet word…it is extremely limited. It was extremely limited to begin with but due to some damage issues in transit it’s ended up being an extra extra limited pressing so best to grab one if you’re keen sooner rather than later. We will have them on tour with us as well as some new t-shirts. We will try and get some vinyl into stores soonish too.

2SER SERVIN’ UP
The many fans of indie cult faves Bluebottle Kiss will already know this, but if you’re into The Drones and don’t know where to turn while waiting for something new from them, look no further than Infinity Broke. The Sydney band led by Jamie Hutchings – already known for carving a singular path with his rock ways in Bluebottle Kiss – is back with a second album, Before Before. Their swingin’ and stompin’ blues-hued rock is matched by the passion play in Hutchings’ poetic lyrics, some angular art-damage and some sweet gospel touches. It’s an excellent follow-up to the debut River Mirrors, riffing on similar energy but even more streamlined, working open-faced and in the raw.
ROLLING STONE
3 1/2 stars
“Jamie Hutchings has always been good at catharsis. Despite six albums with Sydney cult-heroes Bluebottle Kiss and three solo records, he again sounds inspired with Infinity Broke: the blistering Before Before comes just a year after the four-piece’s excellent debut River Mirror. Recorded live in a NSW country shed, Before Before evokes that setting’s rural isolation: the roaring “Famine of Words” elicits white-knuckle night drives; “Dog Fall” melds colossal metal riffs with blistered blues and a make-do choir. Like fellow noise-wringers the Drones, Infinity Broke conjure savage terrain both domestic and emotional by locating the sting in words and guitars.” Marcus Teague Check out the review HERE

CAREERING THROUGH THE WILDERNESS
Dear kindred spirits of the universe,
Here’s bunch of news to entertain you. Firstly we finally have some quality live footage of Infinity Broke playing at the Binic Folk Blues Festival from back in August which Mess and Noise have premiered today – Gallows Queue
We also have the last Infinity Broke show of the year looming. We are very sad to say that it will be the last show for the foreseeable future with Jared on drums. He’s studying like a demon and is too under the pump to play with us next year. He’s one of the best drummers I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing with and a top fella to boot so see him and Scott do their tandem throb. It’ll be emotional.

Our Pozible campaign has given Infinity Broke’s collective self-esteem a nice boost. If you want some of the exclusive goodies and haven’t pledged it finishes on November 30th so you might want to get onto that. Thanks to the pledgers we’re going to be able to release our new album on vinyl and CD again. Go here -http://www.pozible.com/project/186005 there’s exclusive stuff on there that I’ve talked about too much already to repeat but you can read about it on the link.
THE TALL GRASS
Peter Fenton of Crow infamy and myself have been collaborating for a while, we have a goal of recording an album together once we have enough material. Many long-term listeners will remember the glory days when Crow and Bluebottle Kiss walked side by side on this earth so it may interest some of you. We’re certainly enjoying it. We now have a name for the project: The Tall Grass. We also have a fairly basic Facebook site here https://www.facebook.com/TheTallGrassMusic

This being because the first Bluebottle Kiss album Higher up the Firetrails will be 20 years old by the time this tour kicks off. Sheesh. A chance to hear some rare airings.

River Mirror Reviews and Upcoming French Release/Tour
Infinity Broke’s debut album River Mirrors is due out soon on Beast Records in France and will be followed by a French tour in late July/early August. In the meantime here’s a bunch of reviews for River Mirrors. Also note our Australian tour dates.
Sydney Morning Herald CD OF THE WEEK:
RIVER MIRRORS (Come to the Dark Side Luke/MGM)
Jamie Hutchings, once of Bluebottle Kiss, has been making compelling and exciting intimate records under his own name in recent years. Infinity Broke, though, is a chance for him to again tap into the dynamics and combustion of a group, to see what can come of letting things run free. With brother Scott, Reuben Wills and another BBK veteran in Jared Harrison, Hutchings can slide along in a loose groove that encounters a storm(Gallows Queue) or a desert shower (Napoleon Aged Three), or bring an intuitively, if partially hidden, pop-with-drunks-chorus sense (No Mirrors Here) and make it work. But this band can also mix Television and the Drones (the 11-minute Monsoon) and loom ominously over you (Sinless). Bernard Zuel
COURIER MAIL
With his band Bluebottle Kiss, Jamie Hutchings has made some classic Australian albums (see 2002’s Revenge is Slow for starters). Lately he’s been in quieter solo mode but with his new band Infinity Broke he takes up the electric guitar again (a Jazzmaster, I am guessing by its biting sound). River Mirrors has the same razor-wire intensity of Bluebottle Kiss, propelled by Hutchings’s trademark angular guitar exclamations. The album was also recorded in a shearing shed in the NSW central west, and you can certainly feel all that corrugated iron in the music. It’s a very rhythmical kind of record too, aided by the supple bass of Reuben Wills and the two percussionists, Jared Harrison and Hutchings’s brother Scott. That’s there on the opening Gallows Queue, with its steady floor-tom shimmy and scene-setting lyrics (‘I’ve accumulated for myself so much trouble that it’s high time I be declared debt free”). All feels calm until Hutchings lets rip with the guitar and whammy bar, howling in a manner which would have upset the farm dogs at quite a distance. Monsoon uses a Krautrock motoric rhythm as the setting for more speaker destruction. Fans of bands from Can to The Drones will approve. ****
