NEWS A’PLENTY
Greetings everyone
I understand my Sydney friends have been getting their toes frozen off during my escape to Europe. Well I have returned.
After holidaying our way through Paris and Portugal, we travelled through Reggio Calabria in the deep south of Italy for five shows. These ranged from odd shows in restaurants to a show in a beautiful park for a members-only-music society, a house show outside on a terrace in Lochri to a show put on by a young co-op in the small commune of Cinquefrondi. The last show was in a remote town in the mountains called Canolo, with a population of only 900 people. It was a harrowing though beautiful drive, Cholena and I both got hit by a killer stomach bug and owing to a missing microphone stand I had to play this gig without a PA. Singing your guts out whilst your stomach commits mutiny is an endurance test, yessiree. The positions one finds oneself in…anyway it was a real adventure and I have Vincenzo Tropepe and Luca Crippa to thank for making it happen.

Our next stop after catching a train to Rome and a flight to Nantes was Brittany. I had did eight shows in a row, firstly in Rennes and then shows in Saint Quay-Portrieux, Saint Brieuc and at the Binic Folks Blues Festival. My loyal and sleepless friend Ludovic Lorre organised these, and his father Rene lent me his amp whilst Ludo lent me his steel string. All of these towns are incredibly beautiful, amazing stone masonry everywhere surrounded by the crystal clear Atlantic Ocean.
You can watch a live version of It’s On Me filmed at the festival
During this tour I had a bag of vinyl and CDs weighing heavily on me. I am relieved to report that by the end of the trip it was empty. I have now sold out of all vinyl copies of all of my solo records, if you’re after one it’s now best you scour stores, the internet or Discogs. I still have CD copies of Avalon Cassettes, Bedsit and The Golden Coach on my Bandcamp site. There are a handful of vinyl copies of the last two Infinity Broke records left as well at the IB Bandcamp site. A new Infinity Broke record should be due by next year. It’s been recorded and I’ll begin mixing it shortly.
So, I am doing a homecoming show of sorts.

BLUEBOTTLE KISS – FEAR OF GIRLS VINYL RELEASE, AND SHOWS
Love as Fiction records, who have so far re-released Somnambulist Homesick Blues and the live album Never Leave Town Live In Sydney by Bluebottle Kiss, are re-issuing Fear of Girls on double gatefold vinyl.
This is no mean feat people. I would never have attempted to license an album for re-release when it was issued under the umbrella of Sony music. Not only do they charge incredibly exorbitant prices to reissue anything, they also have not archived any of our material. This means artwork had to be sourced or created from scratch, master tapes thankfully were saved by the fact that the original producer Jack Endino smuggled me a safety DAT tape of the original mixes which I have retained in my posession for well over two decades now. So please…get behind this re-release, it looks and sounds beautiful. Originally released in 1996, it’s been long out of print and is being reissued as a double vinyl album. It was also remastered for vinyl by Mr Endino.
You can pre-order it HERE
Bluebottle Kiss are also playing three shows with dear friends Screamfeeder joining in as well. If you missed out last time, here’s your chance, if you came last time, we understand you may want to attend again.
